Some time back - on Thinking Day I assisted with a booth set up not for Scouts in a foreign land, but for Homeless girls in this country who would likely NOT have the chance to become scouts due to life's uncertain road.

It required a few discussions at the local council before they'd allow it. While you're there maybe we can secure a badge or that focus formally???? xoxo N

Well our local Homeless Authority's fav quote is "we feed pigeons in parks & squares, we feed people inside" when referencing street ministries or folks who feed homeless or needy people outside!

But they neglect the value of the ministry part of the "feeding" where souls are fed too!

Even though these donuts are classified as second class they may be given out with an act of kindness or love that can make a difference in someones heart as well as their tummy!

He uses all kinds of ways to soften a heart to plant the seed of change!

How true. It is not the policy, It IS the money. It is also the "stupid". People fear a rise in taxes, along with some idiotic belief they will lose their innate freedom to doctor shop if they would so desire. Question: Who can AFFORD to doctor shop. But back to taxes. If my taxes went up 300$ a month, but my health care premium went down 600-1000$ a month, have I lost something? It is all so frustrating.

I wasn't aware of the history of this endeavor you have chosen. I'd like to hear more. Of course I understand your "anger" about the materialism of our society. I, myself, have become a minimalist of sorts. After living in a 3 bedroom house and moving into a 2 bedroom very small apartment, I am aware of how much less I need to survive. I sit here wondering what do I need from the store? Right now I can't think of anything. I've needed ink for my printer since last June, can't afford it, but I get by without it. Getting the batteries to my wireless phones is important, although I have an old phone I can plug in that isn't wireless. Quarters to do laundry is important, if you have the money to get them. Anyway, I'm glad I have no vices ~ no smoking since 1989. I stay home, so I don't need gas in my van as much. Such is life of simplicity with no credit cards or their bills. I'm there with ya Diane ~ sleep well and stay warm ~ peace be with you!

There are lots of people that choose to live in a vehicle, sort of like the original gypsies that traveled in their caravans from place to place. Today it might be a family that's down on their luck, or perhaps it's a single person wanting to cut expenses. No matter, there are ways of heating and cooling, and cooking and cleaning, and having a full life to boot. Here's some links to show you how others have done it:
